First of all, we ask everyone to begin with the assumption that everyone present believes in Eracism and that we are working toward a common goal. This up-front generosity — giving someone the benefit of the doubt — is extremely important for all of us to honor.

It creates an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect that allows us to respectfully disagree about everything under the sun without fear of ridicule or personal attack.

A helpful way to think about our meetings is that we facilitate CONVERSATIONS, not debates, lectures, arguments, therapy, or rap-sessions.

During the conversation, we encourage people to think critically about the views put forth by all.

However, we also ask people to accept that sometimes the conversation will become quite heated.

Don’t worry! Every ERACE meeting is led by an experienced facilitator, who will make sure that the conversation remains on a respectful level.

What does having a conversation mean exactly?

Racism is perpetuated by erroneous assumptions, misconceptions and lack of dialogue. Meeting together is our way of fighting the roots of racism.
