We are looking for someone to volunteer two to six hours per week to assist in ERACE related functions. Some activities can be done from home. For those outside of the New Orleans area, having access to a computer with internet capabilities is required. For those in the New Orleans area, we can supply you with a computer. Duties would include processing merchandise orders, responding to customer orders with thank you letters, retrieving ordered merchandise from ERACE office, (If residing in New Orleans area) and shipping order to customers. Other functions would be carrying out basic office functions such as word processing, filing, message recording, address list updates, sorting, report generation, inventory management, etc.

Can America have a "safe" conversation about race ?
National, regional and local racial issues have long brought feelings of anger, fear and despair to many Americans. The current political scene has raised these issues again. Although people of good will recognize these problems, they may feel powerless to address or correct them. Are you one of these people? Do you wish to address this issue in a "safe" peaceful way? ERACE promotes ERACISM by providing a forum for concerned citizens to come together to face the difficult and painful subject of racism.
The purpose of ERACE is to create an atmosphere where people feel free to explore perceptions, assumptions and biases without fear of ridicule or personal attack. Within the ERACE setting, people can open their hearts and minds by questioning others and themselves in structured conversations with an experienced Facilitator.
ERACE, a grass-roots all volunteer group that was started by a Black woman and White woman in New Orleans, has conducted over 1200 ERACISM Discussions since 1993. These Discussions are free and open to the public and have been held in schools, colleges, businesses and with civic organizations. We are currently seeking concerned citizens who are willing to take leadership roles and help establish an ERACE Chapter in your community.

HOW CAN I HELP REDUCE RACISM?
In 1993, when ERACE was "born", the word ERACISM and our bumper sticker was created, as a symbol that there were people "of all colors" who were opposed to racism and that its high visability would reduce fears and misunderstanding and, eventually racism. We have distributed over 148,000 stickers all over the country and overseas.
Because we realize that placing a bumper sticker on your vehicles isn't as popular as it once was, over the past year we've added several other items with our ERACISM logo on them----pens, tee shirts, sweatshirts. ladies tees, lapel pins, magnetic bumper stickers, tote bags, caps, etc. This provides you with multiple ways of demonstrating your own commitment to reducing racism ( and gradually let those people who are racist know that they are in a shrinking minority!
Also, we are 100% dependent on donations and sale of our ERACISM gear to support all our activities....free newsletters, shipping expenses, manufacturing, rent and expansion of new Chapters, etc. PLEASE help us reduce racism and perhaps come to your community by purchasing ERACISM items @ "Stickers & Stuff" page.
